Professor Jonathan Turley is a prominent legal scholar with a broad range of expertise in constitutional law, legal theory, and tort law, having authored over thirty academic articles published in top law journals such as those at Cornell, Duke, Harvard, and the University of Chicago. Joining the George Washington University faculty in 1990 after a tenure at Tulane Law School, he became the youngest recipient of the Shapiro Chair for Public Interest Law in 1998, and in 2024, a fellowship was established in his name to support public interest and service. Beyond his publications, Turley has played a significant role as counsel in high-profile cases involving whistleblowers and congressional representatives, notably serving as lead counsel for the House in its constitutional challenge to President Obama’s modifications to the Affordable Care Act. Recognized by Washingtonian in 2024 as a key figure in policy shaping, Turley holds a B.A. from the University of Chicago and a J.D. from Northwestern, and was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Law from the John Marshall Law School in 2008 for his contributions to civil liberties and public interest advocacy.
